Muay Thai and Boxing Sparring League Competition

• The next Sparring League competition in boxing and Muay Thai is Saturday, March 8.
• All fighters are required to pre-register by 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 6.
• This competition will be single fights format. Pre-registering insures that everyone has an opponent.
• All fights will consist of 3- 2 minutes- rounds, with 1 minute rest between each round.
• Fighters must provide their own equipment.

• Boxing: 16 oz. gloves, mouthpiece, groin protection, handwraps/ gauze and tape for hands, tape for outside the gloves, shorts, shirts are optional (but may not be loose and must be tucked in), water, vaseline, towel and bucket.

• Muay Thai: headgear, 16 oz. gloves, mouthpiece, groin protection, handwraps/ gauze and tape for hands, tape for outside the gloves, Thai or board shorts (no zippers), shirts are optional (but may not be loose and must be tucked in), shinguards, water, vaseline, towel and bucket.

• Each fighter can have a maximum of two cornermen during the fight.
• Competition at Knuckleup's Sandy Springs location.
• Weigh-in at 1 p.m. and competition starts at 2 p.m.
• Tournament entry fee is $45.

Women's Basic Self Defense
Four Weeks Course with Merhav

In response to members' feedbacks, Knuckleup is now offering a four week introductory course that covers all aspects of women's self defense starting February 18 at 11 a.m. Classes will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The course will be led by Merhav Mohar (Krav Maga expert) and another female instructor certified in Krav Maga. Krav Maga is used by Israeli Special Forces for hand-to-hand combat.

In this course, you will learn:

  • How to recognize and avoid dangerous situation;
  • Stand up fighting- striking, blocking, moving out of the way;
  • Escaping from chokes and submissions;
  • Learning vulnerable body points to strike an attacker;
  • Fighting off armed attackers;
  • A variety of simple, easy to execute, techniques that women can use 
    to neutralize an attacker; and
  • Confidence building exercises to help develop individual skill and strength.

  • Spinning: Utilizing cardio machines side-by-side allow individuals to reach personal fitness goals. It also allows couples to workout together but at his or her own speed and intensity.
  • Personal training: Couples personal training allows instructors to better understand individual’s fitness needs. Supportive partners or spouses can motivate and encourage one another achieve their fitness goals.
